about obtainables
It started from a young age
My name is Bonno, and my passion for cars began at a young age. When I was 11 years old, I bought my first moped. Together with my father, I worked on it and then sold it. Before my 16th birthday, I had owned and sold more than 60 mopeds.
At the age of 16, I bought my first car, an Alfa Giulia Nuova project. This was a milestone in my life because it was where I truly learned what it meant to work on a classic vehicle.
Shortly after, I started working at an Italian specialized car company. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that the car world is not always fair. The company promised to paint my car and build it up with me, but after the paintjob, they wouldn’t help and never even returned my belongings. This was a bitter lesson, but it motivated me to never treat my own customers that way in the future.

Learning the craft of restoration
After this experience, I began working at a Porsche specialist. My perseverance was really tested here. It felt like I went straight from grade school to university. Perfection was the norm, and I had to work extremely hard to meet the high standards. A phrase that still sticks with me is: “What do you think of it yourself?” This was their way of making you reflect on your own mistakes. Here, I learned how to restore cars the right way, with respect for the original construction and details. I started by learning how to prep sheet metal, so I knew exactly what could go wrong in that process. After a long period of intense learning, I was given the opportunity to master the craft of restoration.
After this job, I had the chance to work for a Porsche 356 collector. Here, I specialized in sheet metal work, which is my greatest passion. The ambition to start my own business grew stronger and stronger because I wanted to do things my way. I believe that you’re never done learning, and that belief continues to drive me.
Creating Obtainables
In 2020, in the midst of the COVID crisis, I took the step to start my own company, Obtainables. It began modestly, in a small space at a friend’s garage. But with a lot of determination and hard work, the company grew. At the end of 2022, I received the keys to our current location, a space of around 400 m2, where I could finally realize my ambitions further.
It was always clear to me why I wanted to start my own business. I want to preserve the beauty of classic cars and ensure they keep running as they were originally intended. Preserving originality and restoring it the right way are core values at Obtainables. At Obtainables, I use old welding methods, such as autogenous welding, because I believe in the craftsmanship that gives the cars their original character.
My goal is to restore cars as the factory did, but with today’s quality.
Obtainables is more than just a business; it’s a reflection of my passion, my experiences, and my dedication to restoring classic cars the right way. In a world where many people are dishonest, I strive to be an honest and transparant restorer.

Our team
A one-man business
Obtainables began small, I set up my workshop and slowly began to gather supplies and tools. and slowly but surely, my workshop grew into a full-fledged garage. I was incredibly grateful to my suppliers for their patience, especially in those early days. But as the workload increased, I realized I couldn’t do it alone anymore, I needed help, and fast.
Finding my mechanic Paul
During a summer evening at the Santpoort festival, I ran into Paul, an old friend of my dad. We got to talking, and I shared how busy Obtainables had become. I invited him to the workshop, and it was clear right away that we clicked. Paul is a master with engines and had an impressive background in building drag racing cars. His technical skills and deep knowledge made him an invaluable addition to the team. What started as temporary help quickly turned into a permanent collaboration.
Finding my metal worker Co
While Paul and I were hard at work, I heard from my family about a particularly talented metalworker named Co. He was unhappy with his current job and open to new opportunities. When I saw Co’s work, I knew I needed him on the team. His craftsmanship was exceptional, with a level of precision that’s rare to find. Although he was working in machine building, it was clear his real passion was for classic cars. I invited Co to visit the workshop and showed him the projects we were working on. He was immediately enthusiastic. He saw the passion and vision behind Obtainables and knew this was the opportunity he’d been waiting for. Not long after, Co joined the team. With his expertise in metalworking and his enthusiasm for classic cars, he was the perfect fit. His loud West Frisian humor also brought a lot of energy to the shop.
A workshop team to dream of
With Paul and Co by my side, Obtainables grew into a thriving business. I can now fully focus on the future, knowing I’ve built a strong and reliable team. No technical challenge is too big, no project too complex. Together, we’ve made Obtainables a name in the world of craftsmanship and classic engineering.
